Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAAA)

The comprehensive federal legislation which establishes criteria for attaining and maintaining the federal standards for allowable concentrations and exposure limits for various air pollutants. This Act also provides emission standards for specific vehicles and fuels. Under the Clean Air Act, states can opt either for federal emission standards or adopt in full the emission standard developed by the state of California.
