United We Ride Program (UWR)

A five-part initiative launched by the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility (CCAM) which includes 11 federal departments working together to simplify access, reduce duplication, and enhance cost efficiencies in human service transportation. In addition to grants, United We Ride includes a self-assessment tool for state and local agencies, technical assistance, and other resources to help communities succeed. Its goals include: to develop an education plan for coordinated human service transportation resulting in enhanced customer access at the local level; to simplify access to transportation services through the development of a comprehensive and coordinated transportation system; to reduce restrictive and duplicative laws, regulations, and programs related to human service transportation at the federal level; to ensure comprehensive and coordinated transportation planning for individuals with disabilities, older adults, and persons with lower incomes; to standardize cost allocation processes; and to document successful strategies in coordinating human service transportation at the federal, state, tribal and local levels.
