Recovery Ratio

A cost-effectiveness indicator which measures the overall performance of a transit system by comparing total revenue to total operating expenses. Higher ratios are more desirable; however the difference between systems may reflect different fare policies rather than differences in operating efficiency. (See Operating Ratio)
