Personal Care Attendants/Companions (PCA)

Someone designated or employed specifically to help an ADA-eligible individual meet his or her personal needs. Under ADA regulations, a personal care attendant (PCA) must be allowed to travel with an eligible rider. In addition to a PCA, the regulations require that service be provided to one companion accompanying the eligible rider if they are picked up and dropped off at the same location as the eligible rider. Companions must be charged the same fare as the eligible rider, and the PCA must ride free.
