Ratio equating total passenger trips to the total miles traveled by revenue vehicles. This measure is used to indicate the degree to which the system (or route) is utilized when compared to the amount of service provided. A relatively high ratio is preferred. Increasing passenger trips or eliminating service that has marginal ridership may increase the ratio.
