Term Description
Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
A business where at least 51 percent of the stock is owned and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more individuals who are defined as minorities under the U.S. Department of Transportation regulations. These groups include: Black Americans; Hispanic Americans; Native Americans (American Indians, Eskimos, Aleuts, or Native Hawaiians); Asian-Pacific Americans; Subcontinent Asian Americans; and women.
