Ethanol

An alternative fuel; otherwise known as ethyl alcohol, alcohol, or grain spirit. It is a clear, colorless, flammable oxygenated hydrocarbon; a liquid alcohol fuel produced from agricultural products such as corn, grain, and sugar cane. It can be used as a vehicle fuel by itself (E100), blended with gasoline (E85) or as a gasoline octane enhancer (10% concentration).
