As defined by the Federal Transit Administration, equipment is all tangible, nonexpendable personal property which has a service life of more than one year and an acquisition cost which exceeds $5,000 per unit. The grantee must maintain a detailed record keeping system which includes: a description; I.D. number; acquisition date; cost; federal percentage; grant number; location; use and condition; disposition action; and title (if vehicle).
