Advanced Transit Management System (ATMS)

Also known as Smart Bus Technology, Advanced Transit Management System is a high-tech system composed of hardware and software communication and fleet management tools. At its core are transit radio and computer-assisted dispatch as well as vehicle location, passenger counting, voice annunciation, and visual monitoring systems. On-vehicle ATMS systems and a Vehicle Area Network (VAN) are used to link all of the individual parts of the system together, much the same as a computer network in an office environment.
