SMARTSe
Research
SMARTSe conducts applied research in four focus areas: infrastructure health and performance, private and commercial vehicle operations, transit operations, and agricultural supply chain optimization.
- TIMSeSM — Transportation Infrastructure Monitoring & Systems enhancements (TIMSe) deploys advancements in remote ground based and aerial sensing technologies to enable solutions for real-time, continuous, and low-cost performance measures.
- VISeSM — Vehicle Information Systems enhancements (VISe) study how advancements in mobile computing, wireless communications, and traffic analysis can be configured, customized, integrated, and deployed to enable low-cost solutions that automatically locate parking spots, perform wireless roadside inspections, and forecast travel demand.
- TOPSeSM — Transit Operations & Passenger Service enhancement (TOPSe) measure performance and network characteristics that affect ridership experience, security, operational and energy efficiency.
- FARMSeSM — Future Agricultural Real-time Monitoring Systems environments (FARMSe) studies determine how to best select and deploy agricultural solutions in transportation and logistics to improve harvest quality control, food safety assurance, and supply chain efficiency.
