Abstract
The balance of this report will examine the experiences U.S. production agriculture has had with deregulation of the transportation industry. It will highlight the evolution of the procurement segment of grain marketing, concentrating on the wheat origination region, as it is an important export commodity for both the Prairie Provinces in Canada and the Upper Plains region of the U.S. First, an overview of the evolution of the grain procurement infrastructure and transportation industry in the U.S. will be provided. The Canadian system will then be viewed in a context of how it is poised for change.
