Abstract

Transit service is playing an increasingly vital role in maintaining and improving mobility and economic well-being of rural populations in the North Central region. At the same time that transit service is increasing in importance, higher operating expenses and reduced federal subsidies are making management design and funding decisions more complex. This project develops a tool to aid in making these funding decisions. More specifically, a computer model is developed, which simulates the effects of various policy and socioeconomic changes on the operations of a transit system.
