Abstract

The goal of the present study is to improve the effectiveness of highway safety inspections of motor carriers. This project evaluates the differences, if any, between violations found during the two broad classifications of inspections (anticipated or spontaneous). The data used are taken from all the inspections conducted in North Dakota during calendar year 1993.
