  • Dec 4-5, 2024 – The Summit focused on projects that utilize technologies designed to promote safe driving behaviors (either in a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and/or in a non-CMV in/around CMVs) and on projects that demonstrate crash analysis tools capable of identifying high-risk corridors and traffic areas for the purposes of enforcement planning and deploying other CMV-related crash countermeasures. We shared research, resources, and best practices, and highlight partnerships in these areas. In addition, there was discussion of hot topics and emerging trends.
  • Oct 16-17, 2024 – UGPTI hosted North Dakota’s first autonomous trucking conference, Autonomous Trucking in North Dakota: Prospects and Challenges, October 16-17, 2024 in Bismarck, ND.
  • May 22, 2024 – The roundtable provides an opportunity for State, County, Municipal, Township, Industry personnel and others to meet and share information and best practices with their peers. The goal is to bring as many different perspectives together to discuss transportation topics for Western ND.
  • May 14-16, 2024 – This inaugural event held in Rapid City, SD brought together Tribal road maintenance practitioners with Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Division of Transportation and BIA Regional Tribal Transportation Program staff to provide information on administrative and field operations components of federal road maintenance programs and resources for Tribal governments. This event provided support for Tribal transportation directors, supervisors, planners, office staff, equipment operators, project managers and others to learn about the BIA Road Maintenance Program and related federal standards and requirements. Tribal programs also shared experiences on improving road maintenance practices and advancing tribal transportation infrastructure and safety.

  • May 11, 2023 – The Western Dakota Energy Association and the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute/NDLTAP co-hosted a western North Dakota roundtable May 11, 2023, in Watford City to bring county road managers and oilfield trucking interests together to discuss common issues and concerns.

  • Mar 17-18, 2021 – Recognizing that learning and safety efforts must continue, the Northland Chapter of ATSSA elected to deliver a mini event virtually after making the difficult decision to cancel the traditional conference (with classes, exhibitors, and networking) two years in a row. The conference serves as the premier regional event to hand off roadway safety information, a platform to share design and maintenance best practices, a setting to see the new market materials and most importantly, as a place to network.

  • Dec 18, 2019 – The Western Dakota Energy Association and the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute/NDLTAP co-hosted a western North Dakota roundtable Dec. 18, 2019, in Watford City to bring county road managers and oilfield trucking interests together to discuss common issues and concerns. With support from the NDDOT, FHWA and the Minot Air Force Base, more than 120 transportation users, owners and industry leaders attended.

  • Jun 27-28, 2017 – This regional seminar provides a forum for pavement professionals representing State, Local and Federal Agencies, Contractors, Suppliers, Consultants, Academia and MPO's. Presenting state-of-the-art technologies, which are the building blocks of the Basic Asphalt Recycling Manual (BARM), attendees have the opportunity to view multiple processes in the field, share experiences, and learn ways to incorporate responsible recycling into their pavement programs or future projects.

  • Aug 9-10, 2016 – The In-Place Recycling & Reclaiming Seminar, and Live Demonstration, is a forum of pavement professionals representing State, Local and Federal Agencies, Contractors, Suppliers, Consultants, Academia, MPO's, all working together to take advantage of the synergy to be gained from sharing information and identifying common issues for further investigation. The seminar will provide a platform for national pavement professionals to present the state-of-the-art technologies that went on to be the building blocks of the Basic Asphalt Recycling Manual (BARM). The seminar addresses the needs of professionals at all levels from Interstate Highways to Commercial and Residential Developments—Design Engineers, Highway Engineers, Consulting Engineers, other Public Works Officials, Contractors, and Material Suppliers, who want to incorporate responsible recycling into their pavement program.

  • Jan 27, 2015 – The Western Sign Truck Roundtable will be a big "Show and Tell," replacing the typical classroom format with a hands on line-up of sign trucks and equipment. Given the venue, the Stark County shop, we have the opportunity to see a wide-array of real life innovations in a comfortable environment. Al Heiser, Stark County Road Superintendent and host for the event, is confident that everyone will walk away with ideas to work more efficiently and safely. For Stark County, their hope is to find a lighter post driver and to share ideas on equipment usage.

  • May 17, 2010 – Apr. 2010 and statewide meeting held May 17, 2010 – The North Dakota Department of Transportation has initiated a study to develop consensus on the levels of service state and local systems should provide. As part of this process, eight regional public input meetings have been scheduled to discuss that topic as well as current and future levels of federal, state, and local road funding; and the state's Highway Performance Classification System and how a similar system might be used by local governments to prioritize roadway services.

  • Oct 23, 2008 – An event to introduce motorists, local officials, law enforcement personnel and local roads experts to roundabouts, a form of intersection that improves traffic flow, fuel efficiency and safety.

The Cross Border Regional Truck Transportation Conference will bring neighboring states and provinces together to develop awareness of truck size and weight regulation commonalities and differences and identify opportunities for states and provinces to work together to create a more competitive regional economy.
