Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the current pedestrian safety and traffic circulation, identify safety issues, and propose methods for addressing these issues for the Phoenix Elementary, Lake Agassiz Elementary, and South Middle Schools. Field data revealed some unsafe practices related to school access, traffic circulation within school grounds, and parking. Several short- and long-term improvements were identified to improve pedestrian safety and traffic operations.
