Section 508 Compliance: Ensuring Accessibility to Web-Based Information

Nov 17, 2009 (1:00 - 2:00 p.m., IACC 422)

Federal law requires that many types of information produced by federal agencies or under programs financed with federal funds be accessible to disabled individuals. These requirements have grown in importance as the size of the federal government and the amount of information that is subject to regulation has grown and as the Internet has emerged as the dominant method of information dissemination. In this presentation, applicable federal law, industry standards, and common practices to ensure that web-based content is accessible are presented. The seminar should of interest to those individuals whose work is funded with federal monies and whose products are subject to federal regulations on web-based information.
