Lt. Dave Wolf
Regional Commander
Motor Carrier Operations, North Dakota Highway Patrol

Lt. David Wolf grew up in Bismarck, ND. Lt. Wolf attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. After attending UND — Lt. Wolf attended the University of North Dakota — Lake Region in Devils Lake, ND and graduated from the Peace Officer Training Program in 1995. Lt. Wolf was hired as a patrolman for the City of Beulah, ND in 1995 and worked there until he was hired by the North Dakota Highway Patrol in January of 1997. Lt. Wolf graduated from the NDHP academy and was stationed in Hettinger, ND as a traffic trooper. Lt. Wolf transferred to Fargo, ND in 1999 and was promoted to the rank of regional Sergeant in 2006. Lt. Wolf served in that capacity until 2013 when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served in Grand Forks, ND. In 2014 Lt. Wolf transferred back to Fargo as a Motor Carrier Sergeant. In 2019 David was promoted back to the rank of Lieutenant as the Motor Carrier Commander. Lt. Wolf has served on numerous committees within the agency and hold several NAS inspection certifications. Lt. Wolf is a certified Post Board instructor in North Dakota. Lt. Wolf also attended the Northwestern Center for Public Safety Staff and Command School. Lt. Wolf is married to Heid and has two children, Devin (19) and Aiden (16). Lt. Wolf enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his family watching his sons compete in hockey and baseball.
