Annie Collins joined FMCSA in 2010 as the Associate Administrator for Field Operations (MC-F). Annie oversees and coordinates the work of over 800 safety professionals in 96 offices across the United States and its territories. She partners with state grantees who engage 12,000 state and local law enforcement officials who save lives through the effective enforcement of safety standards. In 2014 Annie was awarded the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive for her work in advancing bus safety and effective leadership. Prior to joining FMCSA, Annie enjoyed a distinguished 21 year career in Massachusetts state government focused on building efficient programs that promote safety. She headed the Accelerated Bridge Program Oversight Council for the MassDOT advancing innovative construction and inclusive public processes; she headed the Registry of Motor Vehicles dramatically improving customer service as well as making award-winning advances in safety and security; and she was the Director of the Division of Professional Licensure where she led high visibility consumer protection campaigns and increased enforcement efforts. Annie is an attorney and graduated from Northeastern University School of Law and Trinity College in Hartford CT.
