  • The Red River Valley & Western Railroad (RRVW) serves North Dakota and Minnesota with over 575 miles of rail operations. RRVW provides safe, reliable, cost-effective rail transportation and transload solutions to more than 50 communities in our network. RRVW supports industries and economic development by providing supply chain solutions for grain, ethanol, agricultural processors, industrial chemicals, fertilizer, steel products & pipe, lumber, aggregates, and biofuels. RRVW also operates a railcar shop and mobile repair service. Additionally, RRVW offers wash & dry sweeps for non-hazardous rail cars and change of service. RRVW also has the capability to store over 3,000 rail cars. In 2022, RRVW was awarded the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Associations Presidents Award for Safety, which is the highest level of safety recognition in the short line industry.   • Northern Plains Rail Companies. Northern Plains Railroad (NPR), formed in 1997, leases 348 miles of branch lines in North Dakota and Minnesota from Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC). Lines extend west from Thief River Falls to Devils Lake, N.D. and north and west from Fordville, N.D. to Bisbee, N.D. A branch line runs from Russell to Kenmare, N.D., connecting with the CPKC. Northern Plains shippers, including many that operate modern shuttle-train loading facilities, can reach all destination markets in North American, via NPR's connections with CPKC.
    NPR affiliate, Northern Plains Rail Services (NPRS), maintains railroad freight cars, and locomotives; with freight car facilities located in Erskine, MN. and Grand Forks, ND, and mobile service as well throughout the Midwest. In addition, NPRS maintains, designs, inspects, and builds track, offers industrial switching and rail safety training, including rail car hazmat training. NPR companies have over 200 employees throughout North America.
