Brenda has been a researcher at the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute since 1990, first as a graduate student and professionally since 1994. She specializes in the areas of intelligent transportation systems for commercial vehicle operations, business logistics and commercial vehicle safety - subjects on which she has authored and presented numerous articles.

Recent Research Activities/Major Programs of Activity

  • Responsible for the successful development and maintenance of inspection, investigative, and analytical software-based commercial vehicle safety systems in use nationwide.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a transportation and logistics program of education, research, and service.
  • Assist other research faculty with statistical modeling and diagnostics as needed in their research.
  • Primary research areas include:
    • commercial vehicle safety systems and analysis
    • intelligent transportation systems for commercial vehicle operations
    • business logistics and supply chain management
