Researchers Evaluate Push-Button Traffic Signal Data to Improve Pedestrian Safety

Posted: Sep 16, 2024

Researchers at Utah State University are taking advantage of novel pedestrian push-button traffic signal data to advance pedestrian traffic monitoring and improve pedestrian traffic safety. They are using the data along with machine learning techniques to estimate pedestrian volume and to better understand factors affection pedestrian crash severity. The research opens up the possibility of improving pedestrian traffic monitoring and safety in other states by applying pedestrian traffic signal data.
