Research Facilitates Use of New Bridge Construction Techniques for Earthquake-Prone Areas

Posted: Feb 16, 2023

University of Utah researchers developed and tested a computational modeling technique that can predict the local and global response of column-to-footing joints with recessed grouted spliced sleeves in seismically active areas. The model will facilitate the use of the construction technique in accelerated bridge construction in these areas - a construction method that offers improved efficiency and quality control.
