Pantelides Elected as ASCE Fellow

Chris Pantelides, MPC program director and researcher at the University of Utah, was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. ASCE fellows have made celebrated contributions and developed creative solutions that change lives around the world. It is a prestigious honor held by 3% of ASCE members. The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 150,000 civil engineers worldwide and is America's oldest national engineering society. Pantelides has been a professor at the University of Utah since 1991 and has authored more than 100 technical journal papers. His research interests include seismic design, evaluation and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete buildings and bridge construction. He serves on the editorial board of several journals and was named Outstanding Reviewer for the ASCE's Journal of Structural Engineering in 2019 and 2020. He is also a fellow of the American Concrete Institute. Pantelides received his BE in civil engineering from the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, in 1980, and his MSc and PhD in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR), Rolla, MO, in 1983 and 1987, respectively.
