Preparing for Connected Autonomous Vehicles To Improve Safety and Operations at Intersections

Posted: Oct 27, 2022

Researchers at the University of Wyoming are developing and improving vehicle communication protocols and creating signal control programs to prepare for the integration of connected and autonomous vehicles into traffic. The work will improve operations and safety at signalized intersections and has the potential to improve control strategies related to speed harmonization, queue warning, and preemption/priority, especially on facilities with high truck traffic percentages and high-ridership transit routes.
