Transportation Scholarships Awarded at NDSU

Pictured from left to right: Ryan Swanberg, Matthew Rausch, and Mackenzie HolkesvigThe Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute recently awarded several scholarships to outstanding NDSU students with interests in transportation.
Ryan Swanberg and Mackenzie Holkesvig were awarded the $1,500 Transportation Engineering Scholarship which recognizes academic achievement and promotes the education of transportation students at NDSU. Swanberg is a senior in civil engineering from Alexandria, MN. Holkesvig is a senior in civil engineering from Northwood, ND. Both have been student design assistants with the UGPTI DOT Support Center since 2019. Holkesvig was also awarded the Charles Herman Scholarship which recognizes academic achievement and promotes the education of transportation students with a preference to women and minorities at NDSU.
Benjamin Saewert and Matthew Rausch received the Paul E.R. Abrahamson Transportation Scholarship, which recognizes outstanding students with an interest in the transportation and logistics of agricultural products. Funding for two $1,500 scholarships is provided by the Mountain-Plains Consortium through the University Transportation Centers program of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Both Saewert and Rausch are seniors in agricultural economics. Saewert is from Davenport, ND, and Rausch is from Watertown, SD.
Jaylynn Hicks received the $2,000 Tribal Transportation Scholarship, which recognizes outstanding Native American students with an interest in transportation engineering, economics or agriculture who are enrolling at North Dakota State University. She is a freshman in animal science from Dunn Center, ND.
Funding for the Transportation Engineering Scholarship, the Paul E.R. Abrahamson Scholarship, and the Tribal Transportation Scholarship is provided by the MPC.
