Pantelides Interviewed on Accelerated Bridge Construction in Wake of Florida Collapse

Posted: Mar 23, 2018

MPC researcher Chris Pantelides, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Utah, discussed the safety and widespread use of accelerated bridge construction in an interview with KUTV, Salt Lake City channel 2. He was interviewed in the wake of the collapse of a pedestrian bridge in Florida Thursday, March 15, that killed several motorists. Pantelides noted that the use of accelerated bridge construction techniques is widespread and are often used to reduce the time roads are required to be closed to install bridges. "The proof is that we have bridges here in Utah that have been functioning for 11 years without an incident."
