SDSU Hosts Summer Institute for HS Students
Posted: Oct 30, 2017
The National Summer Transportation Institute at South Dakota State University increased awareness and stimulated interest in transportation among participating high school students. The week-long program in August hosted 18 students and was a cooperative program of SDSU, the SD Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration. The program consisted of workshops in transportation engineering, surveying, material science, physics, math, computers, and electronics. All the workshops included hands-on experimental components. Participants also visited a consulting engineering firm, a bridge construction site, a local airport and a major factory active in producing transportation-related equipment.
